The Town of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove is a small community with a population of 915, which declined slightly (-3.6%) since 2001. The median age is 39.1 years. There are about 340 single detached houses in the town. Median household income in 2005 was 54,534, higher than the provincial median. Resource based industries, such as the fishery, and service industries are key employers of residents in Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove. 90% of residents commute outside of town to their usual place of work (Statistics Canada 2006 Census).
