Conception Bay South
The Town of Conception Bay South is one of Newfoundland’s fastest growing communities, located just 20km outside of St John’s. Conception Bay South has a population of 21,966, and grew by 11.1% between 2001 and 2006. The community is experiencing both business and residential growth. There are about 8,248 dwellings, most of which are single detached homes, but there are also some apartments and duplexes. The median household income in Conception Bay South was $56,157 in 2005, which is higher than the provincial median. Many residents are employed in service industries. 76% of residents commute outside of the town to work at their usual place of employment (Conception Bay South website 2009; Statistics Canada 2006 Census).
