Bay Bulls

The community of Bay Bulls has a population of 1,078 and grew by 5.3% between 2001 and 2006. The median age is 39.8 years. There are about 400 dwellings in Bay Bulls, most of which are single detached houses, and 10% of which are duplex apartments. Households in Bay Bulls had a median annual income of $51,719 in 2005, which is higher than the provincial median. The fishing industry has been an important economic and cultural aspect of the community’s history and present. Many residents of Bay Bulls are currently employed in the service industry, including health, business and retail services. Construction and manufacturing are also significant industries. 70% of residents commute outside of the town to their usual place of work (Bay Bulls website 2009; Statistics Canada 2006 Census).
